PROJECT 001 · THAILAND

THE FIRST CHAPTER.

Thailand is where One Dollar Further begins for real. I want to arrive with specific ideas worth exploring, contact people already doing good work, and still leave room for the unexpected people I meet along the way.

PLANNED ENOUGH TO START. OPEN ENOUGH TO LISTEN.

HOW FAR CAN $1 ACTUALLY GO?

Local market in Thailand
THAILAND · LOCAL MARKETS

REAL PLACES. REAL PEOPLE.

WHAT I WANT TO EXPLORE

SPECIFIC STARTING POINTS. NO PREWRITTEN ANSWERS.

01

THE $1 MEAL TEST · BANGKOK

One of the first things I want to test is the idea that around $1 can sometimes cover two very simple local meals in the right Bangkok setting. Rather than turn it into a slogan, I want to go out, find out what $1 actually buys, and see what 10, 50 or 100 dollars could become.

02

ORGANIZATIONS · BANGKOK

I plan to contact established local organizations such as Bangkok Community Help Foundation and Duang Prateep Foundation, ask what they are working on right now, and see whether there is a useful way for One Dollar Further to contribute in person.

03

EDUCATION · CHIANG MAI

In Chiang Mai, I want to contact organizations such as BEAM Education Foundation and also speak with schools and local communities. Books, school materials, computers or sports equipment might make sense, but only after asking what is actually useful.

04

THE PEOPLE I HAVEN’T PLANNED FOR

Not everything should come through an organization. I also want room to meet complete strangers, listen to what is happening in front of me, and do something on the spot when it genuinely makes sense.

ORGANIZATIONS I PLAN TO CONTACT

LISTEN TO PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY THERE.

Bangkok Community Help Foundation

A Bangkok-based foundation with an active food program and community work. I want to contact them rather than assume what would be useful.

Duang Prateep Foundation

Based in Khlong Toei, with long-running work around children and local communities. Another place I want to learn from before deciding anything.

BEAM Education Foundation

A Chiang Mai education foundation supporting marginalized, migrant and refugee youth. I want to ask where small, practical contributions could actually help.

BOTH COUNT

SOMETIMES IT’S SOMETHING NEEDED. SOMETIMES IT’S FOOTBALLS AND ICE CREAM.

I don’t want One Dollar Further to become a competition for the saddest story.

If a school genuinely needs equipment, that matters. If a family needs something practical, that matters. And if some kids in a small village just want footballs and ice cream, I think that matters too.

The point is to ask first, then do something real.

UPDATES
